Darko Jorgić reaches WTT Europe Smash semifinals in Malmö

Slovenian table tennis player Darko Jorgić has advanced to the semifinals of the WTT Europe Smash tournament in Malmö, Sweden. This achievement marks a career milestone, as it is his first time reaching the semifinals of one of the world’s largest table tennis tournaments.

In the quarterfinals, Jorgić defeated Egypt’s Omar Assar with a score of 4:2 (10, 9, 7, -10, -8, 4). Despite leading 3:0, Jorgić faced a comeback from Assar, who won the fourth and fifth sets, before Jorgić secured the victory in the sixth set. Jorgić noted that he managed the pressure by playing more aggressively and reducing errors.

Prior to the quarterfinals, Jorgić secured his spot in the top eight by defeating German player Dimitri Ovtcharov with a 3:1 score. His path to the semifinals also included victories over Deni Kožul and Cedric Nuytinck. Jorgić is scheduled to face French player Felix Lebrun in the semifinals.
