Dassault Aviation delivers first Falcon Albatros aircraft to France

The French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) has received the first two Falcon 2000LXS Albatros maritime surveillance aircraft. Developed by Dassault Aviation in collaboration with Naval Group, Safran, and Thales, these aircraft are part of the AVSIMAR program, which aims to deliver a total of twelve units by 2031 to modernize the French Navy's patrol fleet.

The Albatros is designed to replace older Falcon 50M and Falcon 200 Guardian models. These new aircraft feature advanced technology, including Thales SearchMaster electronic scanning radars, Safran EuroFLIR 410 optical sensors, and specialized systems for search and rescue (SAR) missions. They are capable of a 7,400 km range and provide enhanced tactical data transmission via satellite and Link 22.

The fleet will support operations in Brittany, Tahiti, and New Caledonia. Following the initial two deliveries, a third aircraft is expected by late 2026, with subsequent deliveries scheduled at a rate of two aircraft per year to complete the fleet.
