Datça authorities intercept boat attempting to smuggle FETÖ suspects abroad

Authorities in Muğla, Turkey, intercepted a boat attempting to transport FETÖ members out of the country illegally. During a joint operation by the Provincial Police Department and the Coast Guard Command, the vessel ‘PETER PAN 1’ was located in the waters off Datça, near international maritime boundaries.

Law enforcement apprehended nine FETÖ suspects and the boat's captain. Two children were also on board but were subsequently released to their families. The suspects include individuals with various professional backgrounds, such as teachers, a dormitory manager, and a former court clerk. Among those detained, three individuals—M. S., S. B., and Y. G.—were identified as having finalized prison sentences for membership in the armed terrorist organization.

A search of the vessel led to the seizure of 40,080 euros, 200 US dollars, 4,752 Turkish liras, and three counterfeit Belgian identities. The boat was confiscated by authorities. The captain, H. Y., faces charges related to aiding FETÖ and human smuggling, while the nine suspects were referred to the courthouse following medical examinations.
