Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia face major economic and political shifts

In Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, significant political and economic developments are unfolding. In the Osijek-Baranja County of Croatia, investments in the Slavonia, Baranja, and Srijem development cycle have exceeded 2.09 billion euros. Upcoming major projects include a new Clinical Hospital Center in Osijek, valued at over 850 million euros, an autism center, and various waste management and transport infrastructure developments.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIN) has released an analysis of 20 unrealized energy and industrial investments in Republika Srpska, totaling at least 10.6 billion KM. The report highlights how many strategic projects, often involving Russian partners, failed to deliver promised prosperity or jobs, leading to significant losses in the oil sector.

Simultaneously, the upcoming election campaign in Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing criticism. Analysts and youth representatives note a lack of systemic measures to address youth emigration, employment, and student standards, despite frequent campaign promises. Political figures, such as Jelena Trivić of the Narodni Front, are campaigning on platforms of economic recovery and job creation, while others criticize the current political rhetoric as uninventive and disconnected from the economic realities of the citizenry.
