Data593 platform faces multiple cyberattacks in Ecuador
The Ecuadorian government platform Data593, which integrates services from over 10 public institutions to simplify citizen procedures, has faced multiple cyberattacks since its launch.
José Julio Neira reported that several malicious IP addresses have been identified in connection with these incidents. These addresses are linked to servers in countries including Peru, India, Uzbekistan, Brazil, and the United States. The identified IPs appear on international lists for activities such as DDoS attacks, unauthorized system scanning, and spam.
While the foreign origins of the IP addresses have been noted, officials stated that this does not definitively identify the perpetrators, as attackers often use remote servers, VPNs, or compromised equipment. Despite these security threats, the government intends to proceed with the digital transformation of public services.
