Dauphin Regional Health Centre emergency department to reopen Sept. 7

The emergency department at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre is scheduled to reopen on Monday, September 7, following extensive flood damage sustained in late June and early July. The facility will operate through a temporary setup on the main floor of the health centre, utilizing temporary power, water, and other infrastructure while full restoration work continues on the building.

The department will provide 24/7 emergency services, and a mobile CT unit is expected to be operational within several weeks. While emergency care returns to Dauphin, other specialized services remain at nearby locations: dialysis patients are currently being treated in Brandon, Russell, Swan River, and Ashern; chemotherapy is provided in Brandon; and labour and delivery services are available in Neepawa and Brandon.

Manitoba officials noted that the flooding damaged critical systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, elevators, the pharmacy, and the kitchen. The reopening is considered a major milestone for the region, which relies on Dauphin as a healthcare hub.
