Dave Plummer launches macOS Task Manager utility

Software engineer Dave W. Plummer, the original creator of Windows Task Manager, announced a new system‑utility for macOS on 30 July 2026. Built from scratch in Swift, the app offers detailed per‑core CPU monitoring and broader process‑visibility than Apple’s Activity Monitor, which Plummer described as “a weak tool.” Although Microsoft supplied the source code of the Windows XP Task Manager, Plummer chose not to reuse it, creating an independent macOS version that he plans to release as a free beta in the Apple App Store.

The utility targets users who need finer‑grained insight into system resources, positioning itself as a more powerful alternative for professional macOS users.
