On 30 July 2026, software engineer Dave Plummer announced a new macOS system‑utility, built from scratch in Swift, intended as a free beta in the Apple App Store. The tool was described as offering per‑core CPU monitoring and broader process visibility than Apple’s Activity Monitor.

Two days later, on 2 August 2026, Plummer released the utility under the name TMOG (Task Manager OG) as a public beta downloadable from his website. TMOG combines the visual simplicity of Activity Monitor with detailed metrics—including per‑core CPU usage, clock speed, cache, temperature, GPU load, memory pressure, swap, network traffic and power consumption—updating up to 60 times per second. The app supports both Apple‑silicon and Intel Macs, is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, but cannot be distributed via the App Store due to required system‑level permissions. A Windows version is planned, and while core functionality will stay free, a paid tier may be introduced later.
