David Bowie immersive exhibition debuts at Venice Film Festival
An immersive audiovisual exhibition titled ‘Bowie: Unseen | Unheard’ is currently being presented at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival as part of the Venice Immersive section. The installation features approximately 800 photographs captured by British photographer Denis O’Regan, some of which have never been previously exhibited.
O’Regan, who began documenting Bowie in 1983 during the Serious Moonlight tour, has amassed an archive of over 10,000 images spanning more than two decades of the singer's career. The exhibition utilizes L-Acoustics L-ISA spatial audio technology to create a multi-sensory experience, projecting images across eight screens while playing Bowie’s music, commentary from O’Regan, and new compositions by longtime pianist Mike Garson.
The project was developed with the cooperation of David Bowie’s estate and is scheduled to remain on view in Venice until September 12.
