David Galbraith named deputy chief of mission at US Embassy Bucharest

The United States Embassy in Bucharest announced that David Galbraith has been appointed deputy chief of mission, joining Ambassador Darryl Nirenberg’s team. The posting was presented as a sign that the US‑Romania partnership is deepening, with both sides emphasizing security cooperation and American investment in Romania.

Galbraith is a senior career diplomat who has served in U.S. missions in Colombia, Myanmar, Venezuela, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and has held senior policy‑making roles at the State Department and the National Security Council. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School and previously worked in the private sector. He has also studied Romanian and looks forward to using the language in his new role.
