David Raya wins Premier League Player of the Matchweek

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has been named the Premier League Player of the Matchweek following his performance against Sunderland. Raya secured 26% of the public vote, narrowly defeating Hull City’s Mohamed Belloumi, who received 23%.

Raya was recognized for his “outstanding penalty save” against Enzo Le Fee, his “calming presence,” and his “brilliant distribution.” His performance also earned him a spot in Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week.

This victory marks the second consecutive week that an Arsenal player has won the award, following Martin Odegaard’s recognition the previous week for his performance against Chelsea. Raya previously won this honor in May, making him the first goalkeeper to win the award during both the previous and current campaigns.
