David Raya Premier League performance

Overview

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has demonstrated strong form at the start of the 2026/27 Premier League season. Initially, Raya held the top position in the Gradient Sports goalkeeper rankings due to a high impact score and multiple clean sheets.

Following this, Raya was named the Premier League Player of the Matchweek after a performance against Sunderland. He was recognized for his “outstanding penalty save,” “calming presence,” and “brilliant distribution,” securing 26% of the public vote. This achievement made him the first goalkeeper to win the award in both the previous and current campaigns.

His performance against Sunderland was further honored when Raya was awarded the Premier League Save of the Month for September. This recognition stemmed from his decisive penalty save against Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fee at the Stadium of Light on September 12. By stopping the spot-kick, Raya maintained a goalless scoreline before goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Bukayo Saka secured a 2-0 victory for Arsenal. The award, determined by supporter votes and a panel of experts, marks the fourth time the 31-year-old has received the monthly honor.
