David Rossi death investigation: simulations suggest homicide

New forensic simulations conducted by the parliamentary commission and the Carabinieri's Ris unit suggest that the 2013 death of David Rossi, former communications manager for Monte dei Paschi di Siena, was a homicide rather than a suicide.

Technical experts, including Robbi Manghi and Marco Nigrisoli, performed dynamic simulations at the Foro Italico in Rome using an athlete with a similar build to Rossi. The findings indicate that Rossi was likely attacked by at least two or three physically robust individuals in his office in Rocca Salimbeni. The simulations suggest Rossi was conscious during the assault, attempted to defend himself, and was potentially held by his wrists while suspended outside the window before losing his grip and falling.

Medical evidence, including abdominal injuries and bruising, was noted as being inconsistent with a simple fall. Commission President Gianluca Vinci stated that the evidence points toward an intentional act of violence and that the commission's work will now focus on identifying the perpetrators. A final expert report regarding CCTV footage is expected on October 12.
