David Tennant to return as Tenth Doctor in new audio series

David Tennant is set to return as the Tenth Doctor for a new series of full-cast audio adventures produced by Big Finish. The series will feature twelve adventures released bimonthly starting in August 2027.

An initial trilogy will feature Anjli Mohindra reprising her role as Rani Chandra from ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’. The stories will follow Rani, an aspiring journalist, as she encounters the Doctor and travels in the TARDIS. The first three adventures, titled ‘The Hidden’, ‘Empress of the Universe’, and ‘In Effects’, are scheduled for release between August and December 2027.

Separately, Tennant has expressed openness to returning to the Doctor Who television franchise in any capacity. While his recent appearances as the Fourteenth Doctor were intended to be stand-alone specials, the actor noted he is “open to anything that’s suggested” regarding future involvement in the series.
