Alejandro Davidovich Fokina wins Shanghai Masters title

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina won the Shanghai Masters ATP 1000 title after a dramatic comeback victory against compatriot Rafael Jodar. The final, held on October 18, 2026, saw the 27-year-old Spaniard overcome a dominant first set from the 20-year-old Jodar, winning with a score of 1-6, 7-6(5), and 6-4.

This victory marks Davidovich Fokina’s first ATP Masters 1000 title and his third career ATP title. It also makes him the first Spanish player to win the Shanghai tournament. His path to the championship included a significant semifinal victory over Alexander Zverev. Following the match, Davidovich Fokina expressed a sense of relief and credited his team for supporting him through a difficult period.

Runner-up Rafael Jodar, who reached his first Masters 1000 final after defeating Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals, showed signs of physical fatigue during the final, requiring physiotherapy for muscle overload. The result will see Davidovich Fokina rise to 13th in the ATP rankings.
