Dayse Diniz and Alice Dias de Oliveira disappear in Brazil and France
Dayse Diniz, a 25‑year‑old woman from Santarém in the state of Pará, Brazil, has been missing since the night of 23 July. Police investigators have interviewed at least 15 witnesses, reviewed security‑camera footage that shows her leaving a bar on Avenida Tancredo Neves, and organized volunteer searches in the surrounding neighborhoods, but no trace of her has been found.
Sixteen‑year‑old Alice Dias de Oliveira, a Brazilian resident of the Paris metropolitan area, vanished on 22 July after telling her father by phone that she was waiting for a train at a suburban station. French police located the last signal from her mobile phone, but she was not found at that position. Her sister also reported that a friend, Maria de Fátima Pina Monteiro, disappeared a day earlier, raising concerns of a possible link. The family has criticized French authorities for what they describe as inadequate handling of the case.
