Brazilian disappearances in France and Brazil

In late July 2026 a series of missing‑person cases involving Brazilian nationals emerged across France and Brazil. On 23 July, 33‑year‑old engineer Gabriele da Silva Monteiro vanished from her Lyon apartment after leaving for a medical appointment. Concurrently, investigators in Brazil reported that 25‑year‑old Dayse Diniz disappeared on the night of 23 July in Pará after leaving a bar, with police interviewing witnesses and reviewing security footage but finding no trace. In France, 16‑year‑old Alice Dias de Oliveira vanished on 22 July while waiting for a train at a suburban station near Paris; French police tracked her last mobile signal but she was not found. Her sister highlighted a possible link to the earlier disappearance of Maria de Fátima Pina Monteiro. Families have criticized the handling of the investigations, while authorities continue searches and inquiries across both countries.
