DB InfraGO finishes Hamburg‑Berlin corridor renovation, resumes service

DB InfraGO AG completed a major corridor renovation on Germany's 278‑kilometre Hamburg‑Berlin line. The work, finished by mid‑June, restored continuous operation for long‑distance, regional and freight trains. While final acceptance runs continue, some sections retain temporary speed limits. The upgraded line now supports the European Train Control System (ETCS) and is prepared for future 5G railway communications. Modernisation also involved renewing 165 km of track, 249 switches, installing new crossing points, updating 25 signal centres and refurbishing 28 stations with extended platforms, improved accessibility and better passenger facilities.

In a separate schedule, DB InfraGO announced construction on the Ostallgäu‑Lechfeld network that will run from 7 to 20 July 2026. The works will cause timetable changes and occasional cancellations on regional BRB services between Augsburg/Munich‑Füssen, Geltendorf‑Biessenhofen and Kaufbeuren‑Biessenhofen. Alternative DB routes are offered and special timetables are posted online for affected passengers.
