TV Globo announces ‘Avenida Brasil 2’ and ‘Paraíso Perdido’ productions

TV Globo has announced several upcoming productions, including the highly anticipated sequel ‘Avenida Brasil 2’, scheduled to premiere in January 2027. The new plot, written by João Emanuel Carneiro, will see Adriana Esteves returning as Carminha. Key original cast members confirmed for the sequel include Débora Falabella, who has signed to appear throughout the entire series rather than in a brief cameo, as well as Murilo Benício, Eliane Giardini, Marcos Caruso, and Letícia Isnard. Additionally, actress Karol Lannes will return to her role as Ágata following significant fan demand. Experts note that this production follows a broader trend of remakes and continuations in both television and cinema.

Separately, the streaming platform Globoplay and TV Globo are preparing the new telenovela ‘Paraíso Perdido’. Written by George Moura and Sergio Goldenberg, the 40-chapter production is inspired by four plays by Nelson Rodrigues and is set in contemporary Rio de Janeiro. The cast features Alanis Guillen, Alexandre Nero, and Maeve Jinkings, alongside the return of Patrícia França to the network after more than a decade. Filming for ‘Paraíso Perdido’ is expected to begin this month.
