DC Studios announces Gorilla Grodd true crime mockumentary

DC Studios has officially announced 'The People v. Gorilla Grodd', an eight-episode true crime mockumentary comedy series coming to HBO Max. Revealed by co-CEO James Gunn, the project marks the studio’s first venture into the true crime genre.

The series follows Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo, as he directs an in-universe documentary investigating the murder trial of the hyperintelligent Gorilla Grodd. The plot centers on Grodd’s conviction for the murder and consumption of his father, King Grodd, while the character maintains his innocence from Stryker’s Island Penitentiary.

Created by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the creators of 'American Vandal', the show will feature several returning actors from the 'Superman' film, including Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White. Jimmy Tatro will portray Gorilla Grodd.
