DC Studios’ Gorilla Grodd set photos leaked from Atlanta shoot
Leaked set photos and videos from the upcoming DC Studios HBO series ‘The People v. Gorilla Grodd’ have provided a first look at the production filming at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The series, a true-crime mockumentary, follows Daily Planet reporter Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo) as he investigates whether the super-intelligent ape Gorilla Grodd was wrongly convicted of murdering his father.
The leaked footage reveals a practical gorilla suit being used on set, which likely serves as a stand-in for the character that will ultimately be rendered with CGI and motion capture. The clips show the character in various human-like scenarios, including wearing a sweater vest, participating in an a cappella group, wearing graduation robes, and serenading a woman to the Backstreet Boys’ ‘As Long as You Love Me’.
Directed by the creators of ‘American Vandal’, the eight-episode series features Jimmy Tatro providing the voice for Grodd. The cast also includes returning actors from James Gunn’s ‘Superman’, such as Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and Wendell Pierce. The project is part of DCU Chapter 1: ‘Gods and Monsters’ and is expected to arrive following the release of ‘Man of Tomorrow’ in 2027.
