Debar, North Macedonia allocates 47 new social housing units
A ceremony in Debar handed over keys for 47 newly built social‑housing apartments to families who met the eligibility criteria. The units, ranging from 34 to 54 square metres, were constructed under the state social‑housing programme with financing from a loan provided by the European Bank for Development. 85 applications were received for the apartments, which are intended for socially vulnerable groups such as children without parental care, recipients of guaranteed minimum assistance, people with disabilities and those affected by natural disasters.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Christian Micc..., Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski, director of the state‑owned housing company Marjan Stefanovski and Debar mayor Fisnik Mela. Officials said the programme will continue in other municipalities, with upcoming allocations announced for Probištip and Sveti Nikole and construction of further social‑housing blocks in several towns.
