Debate over Gaza genocide intensifies as Italian town installs memorial plaque

Journalist and author Rula Jebreal argues that the ongoing conflict in Gaza meets the legal definition of genocide, accusing the international community of double standards and highlighting the moral responsibility to label the violence as such. She stresses that the right to apply international law should be universal, not limited to Western powers.

In Livorno, Italy, the local political group Potere al Popolo unveiled a plaque dedicated to the children killed in Gaza, asserting that it is meant to draw attention to the alleged atrocities committed by the Israeli army. The group rejects claims that the memorial is a double‑standard or discrimination, describing it as a moral response to an ongoing humanitarian crisis.
