The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla, India, has reached a record 12.7 million tonnes (MT) in transhipment through ship-to-ship operations as of September 1, 2026. This milestone is cited as a reflection of the port’s increasing maritime capabilities and its role in supporting India’s logistics ecosystem and port-led economic growth.

This achievement follows a series of operational records for the port. On August 22, 2026, DPA Kandla became the fastest major Indian port to surpass the 70 million metric tonnes (MMT) cargo-handling mark for the 2026-27 financial year, reaching 70.03 MMT. This milestone was achieved 32 days faster than the previous year, representing a year-on-year growth of 23.02 percent.

Additionally, the port set a single-day cargo handling record of 783,816 metric tonnes on July 27, 2026. The Offshore Oil Terminal at Vadinar also established a new 24-hour benchmark by handling 509,101 metric tonnes of liquid cargo.
