Overview

Major Indian port operators and authorities have reported significant cargo handling and transhipment milestones in late 2026.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) achieved a record 50 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in August 2026, a 19% year-on-year increase. This growth was supported by rising dry and container volumes, as well as international operations in Australia, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania.

Concurrently, the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla reached a record 12.7 million tonnes in transhipment through ship-to-ship operations by September 1, 2026. The DPA also reported surpassing the 70 MMT cargo-handling mark for the 2026-27 financial year 32 days faster than the previous year.
