Deep Purple releases “Arrogant Boy” single, announces SPLAT! album and 86‑date world tour
Deep Purple has released the lead single “Arrogant Boy” from their upcoming album SPLAT!, which is scheduled for release on July 3 via earMUSIC. The track’s official video, a live‑performance clip, premiered on YouTube on May 12. Produced by veteran Bob Ezrin, the song tells the story of “Billy, who couldn’t read or write, speaks up and irritates the elite,” according to frontman Ian Gillan.
SPLAT! is described as an exploration of humanity’s end as a metamorphosis rather than an apocalypse, and it arrives in multiple formats including CD, vinyl, and a limited‑edition box set featuring exclusive live recordings and a bonus track. The band’s lineup—Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey and Simon McBride—was featured on the cover of Classic Rock Germany, which highlighted the single’s “electrifying” hard‑rock style.
Alongside the album, Deep Purple announced an extensive world tour comprising 86 shows across 28 countries. After recent Asian dates, the band will play European summer gigs in June, launch the North American leg in August, and conclude with South American concerts in December. The tour and new release mark a continued resurgence for the legendary hard‑rock act.
