Deep Purple releases new single Guilt Trippin’ before SPLAT! album

British rock band Deep Purple has issued the single “Guilt Trippin’” as the third preview from their forthcoming studio album SPLAT!. The track, released through earMUSIC, opens with a delicate piano intro before launching into a high‑energy section that showcases Ian Gillan’s powerful vocals. In a press release Gillian explains, “The song starts, I’m in the studio with no lyrics yet, so I just start screaming – pure joy of yelling. I vowed at 40 I’d stop screaming by 60; now I look back and wonder what happened to that.”

The single’s music video imagines a conversation between God and Charles Darwin sharing a drink in a pub, while a fly and a sycamore‑seed spaceship travel through a surreal landscape. SPLAT! is described as the band’s 24th studio album and the “heaviest” in years, exploring humanity’s end as a transformation rather than an apocalypse. Produced by longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, it is the second album recorded with guitarist Simon McBride, who joined in 2022.

Deep Purple’s world tour continues through 2026, with European summer festivals and a North‑American leg beginning in early August. The album is scheduled for global release on 3 July.
