Deep Purple releases new album “SPLAT!”
British rock group Deep Purple issued their 24th studio album, “SPLAT!”, on 3 July through earMUSIC. The record, produced by veteran Bob Ezrin, features the band’s current lineup – Ian Gillan (vocals), Roger Glover (bass), Ian Paice (drums), Don Airey (keyboards) and new guitarist Simon McBride, who replaces Steve Morse.
Reviews highlight the album’s hard‑rock energy, crisp riffs and the interplay of guitar and organ that recall the group’s 1970s sound. Critics note Gillan’s vocal still carries authority, Airey’s keyboards add prog‑flair, and McBride’s solos are a standout. Some assessments describe “SPLAT!” as one of Deep Purple’s strongest releases in recent years, while a few comment that the second half loses some of the initial intensity. Overall, the album is praised for proving that the 55‑year‑old band can still produce compelling, lively rock without merely relying on past glories.
