Deepal unveils refreshed S05 electric SUV with LiDAR and price cuts
Deepal, the electric‑vehicle brand of Changan Automobile, launched an updated S05 SUV on Thursday. The model is offered in five variants across two range versions – 520 km and 620 km – with limited‑time prices from 115,900 yuan to 144,900 yuan (about $17,000‑$20,000), representing discounts of 4,000‑7,000 yuan.
The top‑end variants are equipped with a 128‑channel LiDAR from Hesai and two Horizon Robotics J6M driving‑assist chips delivering 256 TOPS of computing power, enabling assisted‑driving functions in urban, highway and parking scenarios. Both battery options come from CATL (56.12 kWh and 68.82 kWh) and support 3C fast charging, allowing a charge from 30 % to 80 % in under 15 minutes. The rear‑mounted 200 kW motor propels the SUV from 0‑100 km/h in 6.28 seconds.
Measuring 4,620 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,600 mm high with a 2,880 mm wheelbase, the S05 provides 492 L of rear cargo space and a 159 L front trunk. The refreshed S05 replaces the October 2024 launch version that started at 116,900 yuan and is a key volume model for Deepal’s strategy to grow its market share in China’s mid‑price EV segment.
