Changan expands footprint, launches hybrid and EV models

Overview

Since May 2026, Changan has been rolling out AI-enhanced hybrids and ADAS while expanding its global dealer network. In July, it opened five new dealerships in the Philippines, hosted South African journalists at its Chinese R&D centre, announced the Nevo Q05 EV for the Netherlands, and revealed Indonesian pricing for the Deepal S05. The Deepal S05 plug-in hybrid entered Europe in early July, debuting in Greece at €31,990, with a Barcelona launch setting the Pro trim at €24,933. Kantar BrandZ placed Chongqing Changan in the Top 10 Chinese global auto brands in late July.

In August, the Deepal S05 Ultra-Hybrid arrived in Greece and an updated electric S05 launched in China with a refreshed front end, LiDAR-based ADAS, and a 200 kW motor. This refreshed S05 was offered in five variants with 520-km or 620-km WLTP ranges, featuring 128-channel Hesai LiDAR, Horizon Robotics J6M chips, and CATL batteries supporting 3C fast charging. Limited-time pricing in China ranged from 115,900 to 144,900 yuan.

Deepal reported that high demand for the new S05 caused vehicle shortages in late July, prompting increased production to meet a global target exceeding 20,000 units for August. Between 2024 and the first half of 2026, Deepal achieved cumulative international sales of 31,588 units across 17 countries. Thailand remains the primary overseas market, accounting for 61% of these sales, followed by Israel, the United Kingdom, and Spain. The company continues to expand its presence in Europe alongside its domestic growth.
