Turkish courts hear testimony on bribery and organized crime

Ongoing legal proceedings in Turkey have revealed significant details regarding organized crime and corruption. In the 'Ekrem İmamoğlu organized crime' case, defendant Ahmet Çiçek testified that Murat Kapki used fake invoices to extract money from companies. Çiçek stated that these funds were collected as cash at Kapki’s office and were occasionally transported in suitcases.

In a separate investigation, Lütfü Türkkan, an İYİ Party MP, is accused of paying bribes to influence judicial decisions. Allegations suggest Türkkan paid 500,000 USD in three installments to an organized crime group to resolve legal disputes. Further claims suggest total bribes could reach 1.6 million USD.

Additionally, in the Ağaç AŞ case, defendant Aytekin Karaaslan denied responsibility for procurement processes, asserting that he had no authority over technical specifications or supplier selection.
