Dehradun-Mussoorie Road Reopened for Light Vehicles After Monsoon Landslide

Heavy monsoon rains in Uttarakhand triggered a landslide that damaged the Dehradun‑Mussoorie road, causing major cracks and the collapse of a retaining wall. District authorities and the Public Works Department closed the route to vehicular traffic for safety, disrupting travel for hundreds of tourists and daily commuters.

A PWD team cleared the landslide debris near Kolhukhet, allowing light vehicles to resume travel on the road on July 21, 2026. Sub‑Divisional Magistrate Rahul Anand said that work to fully restore the road is ongoing and, if weather permits, the route should be completely reopened by that night.
