Dehradun Police implement new traffic plans for Mussoorie and Rishikesh

Dehradun Police have implemented a specialized traffic and parking management plan for the tourist hubs of Mussoorie, Rishikesh, and Chakrata to manage expected crowds from October 17 to 19, 2026. The strategy utilizes tiered response plans (Plan A, B, and C) to mitigate congestion caused by visitors from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.

For travelers heading to Mussoorie from Delhi and UP, Plan A directs traffic through Datkali, RTO Checkpost, Transport Nagar, and various bypasses toward Kuthal Gate. If congestion increases, Plan B will divert vehicles through the Circuit House Tiraha and Kimadi routes. In Mussoorie, once parking reaches 90% capacity, vehicles will be halted at Kinkreg.

In the Rishikesh and Tapovan areas, Plan A directs traffic from the Haridwar Highway through Saptarishi and Natraj Chowk to reach Tapovan and Shivpuri. Under high-pressure conditions (Plan B), vehicles will be rerouted via Nepali Farm, Lalatappad, and Bhaniawala. Emergency services, including ambulances and fire brigades, as well as vehicles carrying essential goods like milk and fuel, will be exempt from these diversions.
