DEI and Vodafone Greece plan 50‑50 joint FTTH wholesale venture

The DEI Group and Vodafone Greece have signed a non‑binding term sheet to create a 50‑50 joint company that will combine DEI Fibergrid and Vodafone’s Fiber2All assets. The new entity will operate as a neutral wholesale provider of fiber‑to‑the‑home (FTTH) infrastructure across Greece.

DEI Fibergrid currently serves 1.88 million homes, with more than 1.1 million ready for immediate connection, while Vodafone’s FTTH network reaches roughly 550,000 premises. Both parties say the partnership will speed up the rollout of ultra‑high‑speed broadband and reshape the market dominated by OTE. “The union of our forces with Vodafone aims to create a leading digital network infrastructure in Greece,” said Alexandros Paterakis, DEI Fibergrid vice‑president. Achilles Kanaris, CEO of Vodafone Greece, added that the joint company “will accelerate the development of our fiber network and enhance connectivity for many more homes and businesses.”

The deal is now in the due‑diligence phase, pending binding agreements and regulatory approvals, and is expected to boost competition, lower wholesale prices and support Greece’s digital transformation goals.
