PPC to acquire ABO Energy's Polish and Hungarian subsidiaries

Greek utility PPC (Public Power Corp.) has agreed to acquire the Polish and Hungarian subsidiaries of Germany's ABO Energy. The deal includes ABO Energy Polska and ABO Energy Hungary, along with 38 employees and a substantial renewable energy development pipeline.

The acquisition provides PPC with over 2 GW of solar, wind, and battery storage projects in various stages of development, as well as 99 MW of solar projects that are either operational or near completion. This move is a key component of PPC's 2026-2030 strategic plan to expand its footprint in Central and Southeast Europe.

ABO Energy Managing Director Dr. Karsten Schlageter stated that the sale marks a step toward focusing on countries where the company can achieve sustainable long-term success. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
