EDP Renewables asset sales and DEI/PPC regional expansion

Overview

On 31 July 2026, EDP Renewables announced several major divestments. This included the sale of a 166 MW wind-and-solar portfolio in Poland to Greece’s Public Power Corporation (PPC) for an estimated €250 million, and a 58 MW wind portfolio in Greece to Faria Renewables for approximately €120 million. Additionally, EDP Renewables agreed to sell an 80% stake in a 384 MW solar and battery-storage portfolio in California to an Ares Infrastructure Equity fund for an estimated $450 million in proceeds.

Simultaneously, Greek utility DEI Group signed an agreement to acquire a 277 MW renewable portfolio in Poland, comprising operating wind and solar assets and projects under development, to support its 2026–2030 expansion goals. On 7 August 2026, DEI Group announced a strategic agreement with Germany’s ABO Energy GmbH & Co. KGaA to acquire its Polish and Hungarian subsidiaries. This acquisition includes a portfolio of 29 special-purpose vehicles holding 99 MW of operational solar projects and over 2 GW of renewable assets (solar, wind, and battery storage) at various development stages.

On 3 August 2026, EDP Renewables reported a near-doubling of first-half profit and reaffirmed that its Polish and Greek asset sales are expected to close by the end of 2026. DEI confirmed it was finalizing the 277 MW Polish acquisition and is advancing a large data-center project in Western Macedonia, Greece, with a 300 MW first phase slated for completion by the end of 2028.
