Dejan Vuk Stanković addresses education crisis and political influence

Serbian Minister of Education in a technical mandate, Dejan Vuk Stanković, stated that the national education system has undergone a “great crisis” due to being under “strong political influence.” Speaking at a meeting with school directors from Kraljevo, Vrnjačka Banja, and Raška, Stanković expressed hope that such political interference would not recur.

The Minister emphasized that education is a strategic investment for society rather than a cost. He highlighted the importance of gradual reforms and collaboration between directors, teachers, students, and parents. Key focus areas include functional knowledge, outcome-based learning, and the introduction of professional and dual profiles to meet economic and technological needs.

Regarding digital transformation, Stanković noted that 99.5 percent of schools are now connected to the internet. He also announced plans to prioritize teacher training in artificial intelligence, specifically through the Center for the Application of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in Education at the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Education.
