Delaware DNRC launches Paddle Quest challenge and self‑service kayak rentals

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNRC) Division of Parks and Recreation has introduced a statewide paddling challenge called Paddle Quest and new self‑service kayak rentals at Delaware Seashore State Park. Participants must submit a photo wearing a properly fitted personal flotation device at a qualifying launch or rental area and visit at least two locations by Sept 1 to be eligible for prizes. Qualifying sites include Delaware Seashore State Park (Savages Ditch or Burton Island), Killens Pond State Park, Lums Pond State Park and Trap Pond State Park.

New rental options this summer allow visitors to rent kayaks through the Whenever Watersports app at the Towers Road Bayside and Town Road locations in the Assawoman Recreation Area, and through the private Kayak Kiosk at Fenwick Island State Park. "As we celebrate 75 years, it is a great time to get out on the water this summer," said Matt Ritter, director of the DNRC Division of Parks and Recreation.
