Delgaz Grid expands gas distribution in eight Romanian towns

Delgaz Grid, part of the German E.ON Group, commissioned more than 110 km of new natural‑gas pipelines across eight localities in the Romanian counties of Sibiu, Timiș, Bacău and Cluj during the first half of the year. The projects, funded with 8.4 million lei from local authorities and Delgaz Grid, include over 84 km of lines in the Sibiu villages of Jina, Poiana Sibiului, Tilișca and Rod, as well as new networks in Rudicica (Timiș), Slobozia and Borzești (Bacău) and Muncel (Cluj). The expanded infrastructure is expected to improve comfort, quality of life and economic attractiveness for the 3.6 million customers served by the company.

In the commune of Constantin Daicoviciu, a separate investment of more than 38 million lei is under way to lay a 50‑km gas distribution network serving roughly 1,400 households in all six villages. The project includes smart‑meter installations, a dedicated regulation station and full connections for each home, with completion targeted for summer 2027. Both initiatives are financed through the national "Anghel Saligny" program and EU or government funds, reflecting Romania's broader push to extend natural‑gas coverage to rural areas.
