Delhi and northern India face heavy rain as wet spell continues
Heavy rainfall and strong winds have lashed several parts of Delhi, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a continued wet spell through September 13. A low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and a monsoon trough stretching from Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand are driving the precipitation across northern and central India.
Forecasts for September 14 and 15 indicate heavy rain is likely for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh. Other regions, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, are expected to remain under the influence of active weather systems. Additionally, parts of south India may experience strong winds with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph. The weather patterns are being influenced by multiple systems, including a low-pressure area over southwest Madhya Pradesh and an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the south Konkan and adjoining Arabian Sea.
