Delhi authorities intensify measures to combat dengue and influenza

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has intensified efforts to combat vector-borne diseases, including dengue and malaria. Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi has directed health officials to strengthen city-wide surveillance and hold weekly review meetings. To date, the MCD has conducted insecticide spraying and fogging at 1,197 locations.

Field teams have been instructed to target mosquito breeding sites at construction sites, schools, parks, religious sites, and health centers. According to MCD data, dengue cases in Delhi have seen a 46 per cent decrease compared to the same period last year, falling from 499 to 311 cases.

Additionally, Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh chaired a review meeting regarding the rise in seasonal influenza, including H1N1. He instructed the MCD, NDMC, and Delhi Cantonment to accelerate anti-larval operations and intensive fogging in public spaces to mitigate health risks.
