Delhi building collapse: Owner's son to appear in court
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the collapse of a five-storey paying guest (PG) building in South Delhi’s Satya Niketan, an incident that resulted in seven deaths. Mahesh, the son of the building’s owners, is scheduled to appear before the Patiala House Court following the conclusion of his police custody.
Mahesh reportedly managed the building's maintenance on behalf of his parents, Urmila and Hariram, who have been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. The building, operated by ‘Hostel Daze’, had been leased to the operators in August 2025.
Delhi Police have also arrested a labour contractor, Sanoj, in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. Investigations revealed that repairs were being conducted on the basement floor and the ground floor for commercial extension at the time of the collapse. In response to the tragedy, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that civic agencies will demolish a nearby dilapidated building deemed unsafe.
