Delhi CEO clarifies electoral roll process amid AAP allegations

The Office of Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has clarified the legal procedures for updating electoral rolls following allegations by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The AAP had claimed that Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha’s name was improperly included in the electoral roll for the Rajinder Nagar constituency (AC-39).

The CEO stated that the inclusion, deletion, or modification of names is conducted strictly through the submission of Forms 6, 7, and 8. These processes are managed by Electoral Registration Officers in compliance with the Representation of the People Act, 1950, the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, and guidelines from the Election Commission of India.

The draft Photo Electoral Roll for Delhi was published on August 31. The CEO noted that the claims and objections period is currently active, running from August 31 to September 30. During this time, electors can submit Form 6 with necessary supporting documents to ensure their names are included in the final rolls.
