Delhi Development Authority approves Master Plan 2047

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA), chaired by Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, has approved the Delhi Master Plan 2047 (MPD-2047). The plan is designed to guide the long-term development of the national capital, addressing projected population growth through an integrated approach to housing, economic growth, mobility, environmental sustainability, infrastructure, and heritage conservation.

The plan has been updated from the previously intended MPD-2041 to align with the central government’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision. It will now be forwarded to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for final approval and notification.

In addition to the master plan, the DDA approved a policy for the reconstruction and redevelopment of old, structurally deficient two-storey residential units built on individual plots. This policy provides redevelopment rights for these units on par with vacant residential plots. Other approved measures include land-use changes for the Rithala-Kundli corridor Metro depot in Narela and amendments to Unified Building Bye-Laws to improve the ease of doing business.
