Delhi Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Targeted by Jantar Mantar Protest

Thousands of educated, unemployed youths have been staging a sit‑in at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar since June 20, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged question‑paper leaks in major competitive examinations. The protest, organised by the Kokroch Janata Party, also calls for greater transparency in recruitment and entrance tests.

The All Axom Sanmilita Mahasangha (ASM) issued a statement of full support, condemning reports that Delhi police cut water and sanitation at the site and urging the government to restore basic amenities. ASM warned it could launch its own demonstrations if the issue remains unresolved.

Environmentalist and educator Sonam Wangchuk began an indefinite hunger strike on June 28, joining six student activists and members of the All India Students’ Association. Before starting his fast he visited Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Wangchuk alleged police had disconnected water supplies; the police denied involvement. Farm leaders and other activists have also joined the demonstration.
