India's NEET UG paper leak case sees CBI file 20,000‑page charge sheet
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has lodged a charge sheet of roughly 20,000 pages in the Rouj Avenue Fast‑Track Court, naming 13 accused in the NEET‑UG 2026 paper‑leak scandal. All 13 are in judicial custody until at least 6 August. The charge sheet lists 360 witness statements, 422 documentary exhibits and 43 physical or digital pieces of evidence. The accused include three National Testing Agency (NTA) subject experts and several intermediaries; investigators allege the mastermind bought the leaked paper for ₹10 million and sold it for ₹12 million each to candidates. The court has directed the Director of Prosecution to appoint a public prosecutor and has set the next hearing for 3 August. The initial hearing on 27 July was adjourned because no CBI lawyer appeared. In response to the scandal, 47 NTA officials have been suspended.
