Delhi Food Safety Department destroys 4,100 kg of adulterated dairy
The Delhi Government's Food Safety Department has seized and destroyed more than 4,100 kg of adulterated dairy products, including khoya, paneer, chhena, and ghee. The enforcement drive was conducted over the past month to ensure food safety ahead of the upcoming festive season, when demand for these products typically increases.
During inspections at Mori Gate Khoya Mandi, officials collected 30 samples of khoya, 22 of which were found to be unsafe for human consumption and failed to meet prescribed standards. Additionally, out of 19 samples of paneer and chhena, only seven met the required standards while 12 failed.
Enforcement actions and inspections took place across various locations, including Okhla Sabzi Mandi, Bagh Diwar, Sanjay Market, Janakpuri, Shahdara, and Ghazipur. The department has initiated prosecution proceedings against the involved food business operators under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
