Delhi Government announces new student hostels and increased ASHA worker pay

The Delhi Government has announced several new initiatives aimed at student welfare and healthcare support. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the government will develop hostel facilities for 10,000 students to ensure safe and affordable housing. This decision follows a fatal accident at a paying guest accommodation in Satya Niketan, near the University of Delhi's South Campus, which resulted in seven deaths.

In a separate move, the Delhi Cabinet has approved a doubling of the monthly incentive allowance for ASHA workers. The monthly stipend will increase from 3,000 to 6,000 rupees. This increase applies to all 6,725 ASHA workers currently operating in Delhi, who play a critical role in primary healthcare, vaccination drives, and maternal health services.
