Delhi government approves Rs 300 crore for e-bus charging infrastructure

The Delhi government has sanctioned over Rs 300 crore to develop electric bus charging infrastructure at seven depots located in the South West areas of the city. This initiative aims to support the expansion of the city's electric bus fleet, which the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) intends to grow from its current 5,000 e-buses to 14,000 by 2029.

The project, sanctioned during an Expenditure Finance Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, will focus on depots in Dichaon Kalan, Kair, Kharkhari Nahar, and Ghumanhera. According to a report by power discom BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, the infrastructure will include 66KV in-feeds, three 66/11 KV grids, and seven 11KV switching stations.

The total project cost is estimated at Rs 300.61 crore. Approximately Rs 120.25 crore will be disbursed to the discom this year, with the remaining Rs 180.36 crore to be covered by next year's budget. The work is expected to be completed within 18 months following all necessary approvals.
