Delhi Government to Take Over Janakpuri School Over Safety and Financial Violations

The Delhi government issued a show‑cause notice to the management of a private school in Janakpuri after an official inquiry uncovered serious safety lapses, an alleged child‑abuse cover‑up, and extensive financial irregularities. Education Minister Ashish Sood directed the Directorate of Education to take the strongest action, including a possible takeover of the school’s management and cancellation of its land lease, giving the school seven days to respond.

The inquiry found that a nursery‑class girl was allegedly molested on April 30, 2026, and the incident was not reported to authorities. The school operated illegal branches from an unauthorised residential building in Narang Colony, using its basement as an unsupervised area for children. All 64 CCTV cameras were non‑functional, there was no child‑protection policy or trained nodal officer, and security staff had not undergone required background checks.
